What the browser can't do.

The web edition is deliberately limited — browsers restrict hardware access, sustained GPU use and offline storage. These are the things only the desktop app can give you.

Compare the editions
  • Works fully offline, syncs when a connection returns
  • Full 3D physics with multi-robot arenas and custom worlds
  • Firmware flashing over USB, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
  • On-device Saverick LM Edge — the AI tutor with no connection
  • Local lab mode: one teacher PC hosts a whole classroom
  • Python, C++ and MicroPython (the web edition drops C++)

Once it's installed

  1. Install

Run the installer. No admin rights needed on Windows or macOS — it installs to your user profile.

  2. Pick your language

Choose a language pack on first run. It downloads once and then works with no connection.

  3. Plug in a kit

Link finds the board automatically over USB. No driver hunting.

  4. Or skip the kit

Sim gives you a virtual robot straight away, so you can start with no hardware at all.

System requirements

Processor Any 64-bit CPU from 2015 onward Low-spec school laptops are the baseline we design against
Memory 4 GB RAM 8 GB for multi-robot arenas in Sim 3D
Disk 2 GB, plus 1–3 GB per offline language pack Packs are downloaded once and reused
Graphics Anything with WebGL 2 WebGPU is used when present, never required
Internet Needed once, to install and sign in Everything after that works offline

Cookies and storage

Saverick sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising pixels or trackers. Two things are kept in your own browser and never leave your device: the theme you pick, and a note that you have already seen the loading screen.

One thing is optional. Our animated diagrams load their player from Cloudflare's CDN, which tells Cloudflare your IP address. Turn that off and you get the still diagrams instead — everything else on the site works exactly the same.
